On Sunday April 7, Joe P. planned and led his Eagle Service Project for the benefit of the National Park Service at Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria. After receiving a briefing about safety and which plants needed removal, volunteers removed many bags of the invasive English Ivy from the park. Interestingly, since poison ivy is native to the area, the Park Service did not want that removed. Additionally, instead of pulling the ivy off the trees which damages the tree bark, in most cases, just a section of the ivy was removed to kill that plant without causing damage to the tree.
