Fr. Patrick Riffle visited camp today. We are grateful for his visit, since his schedule required him to make the 7+ hour round trip all in one day. He arrive at noon, said Mass and joined us for lunch. In the homily, Fr. Riffle taught us that today is the feast day for Blessed Junipero Serra, the missionary who founded 21 missions across the West and exemplifies service to God and to others. In addition to being honored by the Catholic Church, he is also honored by the state of California with a statue in the National Statuary Hall right here in our neighborhood at the Capitol for his influence on California. Father reminded us that like Junipero Serra, Scouts are also called to serve God and others.
At Mass and lunch, we were also honored to honored to host Msgr. John Brady, Catholic chaplain for the National Capital Area Council. One of our own Pack 380 Webelos scouts and leaders also visited and attended Mass.
